Old Boat - Peggy's Cove
Again, Peggy's Cove. This is an old fishing boat on the shore. Just withering away !!
This also captures the environment at Peggy's. Fishing shacks, rocks and houses overlooking it all. A fun image.
This kind of reminds me of me. Old and deteriorating ! LOL
Peggy's Cove 2016
On the same trip mentioned before, we stopped in Halifax. One of the famous sights in the Halifax area is a delightful fishing village called Peggy's Cove. A cove, boats, rocks and a lighthouse. All you want for a great image!
So, this is an image from the end of the cove looking out to the ocean. It was kind of foggy and I tried to capture that. I love the boats and the old fishing shack on the right.
An exciting thing happened when I brought this piece to an art show in our community. A good friend, Marti, is Canadian and said "I've been there and lived for several years in Halifax. This brings back a lot of memories to me."
Not surprisingly, it now lives in her home.
Buoys in Maine
Nothing like lobster buoys in Maine! In 2016, we took a trip with friends to Maine, Halifax, and then up the St. Lawrence. At the first stop in Bar Harbor, I saw this collection of buoys. The shapes and colors made me think that I needed to put it on canvas.
I love making shapes that develop a two dimensional image into one that shows three dimensions. "Turning edges" is what the real artists call it. This one is a good example.
Sunflower 2015
I've always liked sunflowers and have painted them numerous times. This particular one was from a photo that I took on a river cruise on the Seine to Normandy. We went to several gardens, including Monet's home a garden. This came from that trip in 2015.
This one is a little "edgy". Different for me, but it kind of "pops". I like it!
Quinlin & Fancy
This is a painting of my grand daughter, Quinlin, and her horse, Fancy. Quinlin is in love with horses and this one in particular. The family bought Fancy a few years ago for Quinlin. Someone once told me "never buy something that just eats and poops". But, that person didn't know Miss Q.
I'm very happy that Q has found something that she loves and is good at. Go Quinlin !!!

Santa Fe Aspen Leaf
This last summer, a number of friends went on a trip to Santa Fe, NM for a few days of golf, food and exploring. ON the way to breakfast one morning, I saw an aspen leaf covered in dew, which was also on some nearby rocks. It was very peaceful for me and I liked the idea of trying to capture the leaf and rocks, but also the dew.
So, here it is, the Santa Fe Aspen Leafin Morning .

Pike's Peak at Sunset
Last summer, we visited an old friend, Bill, and his wife Becky, at their new home in Colorado Springs, CO. They had sited this beautiful home so that they would always have a straight on view of Pike's Peak, the major landmark in "The Springs", from their window.
So, I decided to memorialize this by painting the view out of their window. It wasn't actually this way that day, as the time was different and it wasn't as clear. So, a little "artist's license" was used to add a sunset over "The Peak". Enjoy it, Bill and Becky !!!
